Locke and Key is probably one of the greatest comic books out right now that most people aren’t reading. Joe Hill—the son of legendary writer Stephen King—and Gabriel Rodriguez’s art bring together this thrilling tale about three siblings who return to their family home after their father is violently murdered. Upon discovering that the old house holds many secrets, they begin discovering magical keys that open several hidden doors. Working against them though is the demon known as Dodge, seeking the keys for himself so that he may open the Black Door and release demons into the realm of Earth.
Initially, Fox had picked up Locke and Key as a TV show but even after a pilot was made the show wasn’t green lit. Now, Universal is looking to pick the IDW comics property up as a potential film. Famed Producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Transformers, Star Trek Into Darkness) are both tied to the project.
Comic fans should also give this title a try as it is a beautiful mix of horror and dark fantasy storytelling.
